November 25th, 2009 | by admin |Bangkok is the city center of Thailand. Populated with 95% if its citizen believing in Buddhism. It is a well known fact that Buddhism is the official religion.
Being a Muslim traveler, it’s not so easy to find halal food in Bangkok. There are halal foods in Bangkok but not so many choices. Here are some of the lists of Bangkok halal foods that we found.

Located at: Phetchaburi Soi 7, Bangkok, Thailand
Landmark: Before Darul Aman Mosque
Menu: Thai cuisine & Tomyam

Mak Yah Restaurant

Both of these restaurant are located on Phetchaburi rd. We manage our way to Petchaburi rd with Bangkok Skytrain a.k.a BTS. Stopped at Ratchathewi station, just a few walk away from here. There are a few Muslim Food restaurant on this road apart from the two mentioned above.

We had our dinner at Mak Yah Restaurant. The Mak Yah restaurant is clean and well kept. Equipped with air condition system. The owner can speak Malay & English. He was friendly and easy to get along with. We had regular Tomyam campur, small kailan ikan masin, and medium telur dadar with 3 plate of steamed rice – all this cost us 500 BAHT. Kind of expensive.

According to Mak Yah Restaurant owner, they will be glad to deliver the food to your hotel, but extra charges on delivery will be imposed.
The next day, after half of our day spent in Siam Ocean World in Siam Paragon Mall, we were trying our luck to look for halal foods in Siam Paragon Mall food courts, which is located in Ground Floor. Surprisingly there are a few of halal food stall here, personally I found around 3 halal stall; the Royal India, Wrap It, and another stall which I cant remember the name but was selling some Roti Goreng & Roti Canai .
We had lunch at Wrap-It stall, they had the halal certificate displayed. They basically serve sandwiches & kebabs. 2 kebabs sandwiches, with fries, and one regular sprite cost us 400 BAHT

That particular night we went to Usman Restaurant for dinner, located right next to Bangkok Imperial Queens Park in Sukhumvit area. The address of Usman Restaurant is 259/9 Thanon Sukhumvit Soi 22, Bangkok, Thailand 10110. Among the entire Muslim Food restaurant we went to, Usman Restaurant is the best & cheap.
We had small green chicken curry, small chicken tomyam, small kailan ikan masin, medium telur dadar, ice lemon tea, watermelon juice with 3 plate of steamed rice cost us only 350 BHAT. The owner speaks malay fluently & friendly. Easy to get along with. The restaurant is clean and well kept; equipped with air condition system. It feels like having dinner at home.

Halal food and vegetarian food are little difficult to find in Thailand, luckily one of the staff at the discount hotel Bangkok where I was put up helped me find the right restaurants.
