A1GP Malaysia Race 2008 – The heat is on

November 23rd, 2008 | by amdTaufik |

I reached SEPANG F1 Circuit around 12:45pm. As mentioned earlier in my A1GP Malaysia Race 2008, the parking will cost RM5, the good thing is they also have a FREE parking area, which is just opposite PETRONAS petrol station. It just require more efforts to walk to the SEPANG F1 Circuit entrance J. At least I save RM5.

I was disappointed with the way the organizers (mainly the A1 Malaysia Team Fanzone Club & Jobtreet.com) handles the tickets redemption. They require us to write our names, email, and IC# at the back of the voucher, before allowing us to redeem it and enter the circuit.  The thing is … who will bring a PEN to such a race? …

Surprisingly, they also have set-up tables with limited PENs to allow us to do the necessary stuff … and thus created an unnecessary queue to use the PENs.  This can be avoided if they have informed us earlier when emailing the voucher.

By the time I reach the grandstand, the open ceremony just begun.

A1GP Malaysia Race 2008

Comparing to this year F1 race, this time the feeling was a bit different, as we Malaysian have our own team to cheer for. The crowd goes wild when Malaysian Fairuz Fauzy’s was announced. It seems like all of us here are cheering & supporting for our A1Team Malaysia. This is good …

Fairuz started at 4th place with a good start by overtaking Danny Watts from Great Britain at 2nd place, but it was not for long, somehow he still maintained at 4th place during the 1st lap.

At 3rd lap he was in 3rd places ….

Knowing he was doing well, that’s when I leave the grandstand to find for something to eat as I was tired standing and hungry. I had nasik lemak with ayam goreng which cost me RM6 and a bottle of cold mineral water RM3. Mahal betul!

Fairuz was at 14th place when I was done eating, curious how he end-up that way, I asked around. According to one of them he entered the pit-stopped for no reasons and thus end-up at 14th place when he re-join the race. According to TV3-News, there was miss communication …. Unlucky!!!

With the efforts and skills he acquires, he manages to settle at 10th place and thus given Malaysia A1 Team 1 point.

Personally I was hoping that he can win the race as it was held in his home ground, but luck was against him.

15 more races to go, I’m sure Fairuz and team can work out something to be on top of list once again … good luck team!

To SEPANG Circuit management … just wondering why was the score board not in use during the race today?
